Little Miami WWTP High-Rate Treatment Facility and Pump Station Upgrades

Project Name, Location and Delivery Method

  • Name: Little Miami Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) High-Rate Treatment Facility and Pump Station Upgrades
  • Location: Little Miami WWTP in Cincinnati's East End/Columbia Tusculum neighborhood
  • Project Delivery Method: Progressive Design Build

Project Overview

This project includes construction of a high-rate treatment (HRT) facility with the capacity to treat 115 million gallons per day (MGD) of excess wastewater flows during wet weather. The project will also upgrade two existing influent pump stations at the Little Miami plant and screening systems to pump up to 215 MGD to convey flow to either the treatment plant or the HRT. This will eliminate the bypass of excess wastewater flows at the plant during a typical year of rain.

Additionally, the plant's disinfection system will be upgraded to match the expanded treatment capacity. Demolition of the old incinerator system, dewatering, and maintenance buildings along with site preparation for the HRT facility is also included
